Properties Supervisor
CHICAGO OPERA THEATER is looking for a Properties Supervisor for our 2008 season in the Harris Theater for Music and Dance. The Properties Supervisor is responsible for the props for Chicago Opera Theater’s three productions in the Harris Theater for Music and Dance: Mozart’s DON GIOVANNI, John Adams’ A FLOWERING TREE and Handel’s ORLANDO.
Duties include:
- Attendance at pre-season Production Meetings, and production meetings after each on-stage rehearsal.
- Liaison with designers and directors re: prop requirements.
- Preparation and supply of rehearsal props, and daily contact with stage management re. rehearsal requirements.
- Making, buying, renting and/or borrowing props for stage rehearsals and performances, and repairing/modifying props during the run of the production.
- Attendance at tech rehearsals as required.
- Control of the props budget allocated to each production.
- Keeping a list of props at the COT warehouse, and maintaining and organizing the prop storage.
Part-time February and March 2008, more substantial time commitment April and May 2008 AGMA contract - weekly rates paid per COT/AGMA Agreement.
Requirements:
- Experience of building, shopping and maintaining props in professional theater in Chicago.
- Own vehicle.
- Chicago based.
