2008

Young Artist Concerts and Performances
COT’s Young Artists presented recitals as part of the Chicago Cultural Center’s Classical Mondays, PianoForte Foundations PianoForte Salon Series which was broadcast on WFMT 98.7FM, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s annual Macy’s Day of Music. Additionally, a special “Opera Party” program for toddlers and their family was presented as part of the DuPage Children’s Museum’s Tiny Great Performances™ for Tots in May 2008.

India Blooms in Chicago
Chicago Opera Theater proudly presented the Midwest premiere of John Adams’ newest opera A Flowering Tree in May 2008.  In celebration of this opera, COT mounted a citywide, month long festival, India Blooms in Chicago, to provide a lens into the rich and vibrant culture of India. As part of this exploration, COT focused on the art of storytelling across genres – film, dance, folk tale traditions, psychology, music, hip hop, neighborhood immersion and of course opera. Videos on YouTube and podcasts are available from many of these events.
