ORLANDO
Readings
- Ludovico Ariosto. Orlando Furioso, tr. Guido Waldman (Oxford University Press: Oxford, 1998) – An unabridged prose translation of Ariosto's epic tale that is both engaging and elegant. Includes an annotated index and a useful introduction to the work and its historical context.
- Jonathan Keates. Handel: The Man and his Music (Victor Gollancz: London, 1985) – Written by a Shakespearean scholar and Handel enthusiast, this biography takes a less musicological, more narrative glimpse into Handel's life. It tends to be a little more colorful than some other Handel biographies.
- Christopher Hogwood. Handel (Thames and Hudson: London, 1984) – A particularly informed biography of Handel by conductor, musicologist and founder of The Academy of Ancient Music. It is rich in first-hand accounts, letters, documents, and images that bring both Handel and the world in which he lived to life.
- Handel Opera Libretti, Vol. 2 – Orlando and other Handel libretti
