OUR SEASON ART

Chicago Opera Theater is thrilled to collaborate with Chicago based artist Christian Gridelli on the creation of the art to reflect the dynamic performances that make up our 2025/26 Season!

Christian Gridelli was born on the dining room rug and spent the next couple of decades as a filmmaker and writer in Chicago. “Thanks” to pandemic creative atrophy, he turned to digital collage under the moniker, Yearbook Of Creeps. What started as art therapy quickly became a new spark and a new identity. This medium change is Christian’s attempt to return to the joy of creation as play, and to experiment in a vast, new sandbox that embraces the abstract as much as the narrative. Collage also incorporates a lifelong love of digging for buried treasure amongst forgotten ephemera. Christian’s film background has him continually exploring storytelling and world-building, now whittled down to a single frame rather than twenty-four per second. His love of kitsch keeps things playful, pairing colorful pop with a surreal lens. His work has been featured in Contemporary Collage Magazine, Wilder Roam, Chicago Collage Magazine, and Suboart Magazine. You can find Christian online at yearbookofcreeps.art and on social media as @yearbookofcreeps.
