Health & Safety

Chicago Opera Theater is dedicated to the health and well-being of our audiences, artists, crews, and staff. Our ability to provide an outstanding operatic experience relies on the commitment of our entire community to uphold all protocols while attending events at Chicago Opera Theater venues.

Based on recommendations from the CDC, the State of Illinois, City of Chicago, and the best practices that are developing in the performing arts industries, Chicago Opera Theater ask that all attendees follow the protocols outlined below in an effort to help reduce the spread of COVID-19:

• Masks: Masks are no longer required for audience members to wear, but we strongly recommend your use of masks throughout the theater. Guidelines may change at any time but we will always keep you updated.

• Proof of vaccination: COT will no longer require patrons attending performances to provide proof of full vaccination. A vaccination policy remains in place for all our artists, staff, and company members.

• Digital, emailed tickets: If you didn't receive an email, please contact us at boxoffice@cot.org or 312-704-8414 and we will resend the tickets to you.

• Wellness: Any person who feels unwell or is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, or has tested positive or been in contact with someone who has tested positive in the past 5 days, agrees not to come to the performance, and we will work with them to exchange their tickets for another date, donate their tickets, or provide a refund, with no fees or penalties.

• Risk: Attendees understand the inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 at any public event where people are present. All who attend a Chicago Opera Theater event readily assume any risk of exposure and agree to maintain all protocols as outlined by Chicago Opera Theater.

• Compliance: Everyone must follow the outlined health and safety protocols while attending a Chicago Opera Theater event. Chicago Opera Theater reserves the right to require attendees who do not follow our protocols to leave immediately. Attendees who are disrespectful to other guests, staff, or volunteers may also be asked to leave.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep our audiences, artists, and staff safe as we return to the theater.
